Properties vary widely in price, depending on the size of the block, the proximity to Wellington and, to a lesser extent, the view. The median is $550,000, and many architecturally-designed, multi-bedroom homes go for between $1-1.5 million. A modest three-bedroom home on five hectares will sell at $630,000, and very few properties will go for less. Because current council rules prevent subdivision of land into lots smaller than five hectares, many listings are for five to six-hectare blocks, although some smaller blocks (particularly of one hectare) predate those rules and are sometimes available.
With the Transmission Gully motorway development about to shorten the drive to Wellington, interest in properties - and perhaps prices - should rise here.
